Petoskey Youth Soccer Association

Petoskey Youth Soccer Association is proud to offer high-quality soccer programs year-round to our area youth. Whether just starting out in the game, or a highly developed player looking for advanced training, PYSA has something for you! Here are details on our various programs:

City of Petoskey Youth Rec Program
PYSA is proud to host the City of Petoskey Youth Rec Soccer Program at our Click Road Soccer Complex. This program allows boys and girls a fun introduction to soccer and athletics as a whole. Players participate in a safe, fun learning environment that allows them to fall in love with the game. For registration details, please visit the City of Petoskey's Recreation Programs & Reservation Page: Click Here

Northern Michigan Soccer Alliance (u8-14)
This program introduces our players to competitive soccer, by playing against teams throughout the Northern Michigan area. Our teams receive a high level of training, beginning with our Academy program for ages u8-10. Led by Academy Director, Pete Platte, the PYSA Academy helps build on the skills learned  in the City of Petoskey Rec Program, but is also a great starting point for boys and girls brand new to the game. Practices remain fun and engaging, with parents welcome to attend each session. Under Pete's guidance, players develop the baseline of skills necessary to carry on in competitive soccer.

From u11-14, players transition to a more competitive setting. Led by Club Director, Kyle Lieberman, players at this age are introduced to a higher volume of games and practices, with more specialized skills training from our coaching staff.  The focus remains on individual player development, while being introduced to an increasingly competitive sports environment. Players are guaranteed quality playing time regardless of skill level. A foundation is built for players to progress into the competitive premier soccer that follows.

Petoskey Breakers & Lakers(u15-19)
While PYSA continues to focus extensively on individual player development, the emphasis on competition his heightened as players enter the Petoskey  Breakers (girls) and Lakers (boys) Premier programs. These teams compete in highly competitive tournaments, and often participate in the Michigan State Premier Soccer League. Players from throughout Northern Michigan have participated as Lakers and Breakers over the years, with many going on to significant High School accolades and even careers as college soccer players. The Lakers and Breakers Programs are trained by several of our highest caliber coaches, including Pete Platte, Jake Oberg, and Kyle Lieberman.

Goalkeeper Training (u11-19)
Beginning in Spring of 2016, weekly goalkeeper training is offered to all active members of PYSA ages u11-19. This training is run by Club Director and former Alma College Goalkeeper, Kyle Lieberman. Training is focused on both technical and tactical elements, and is specially focused on the role of goalkeeper on the field. This often under-serviced position will receive dedicated training this spring and beyond. Players u11-14 are invited to train 7-7:30 on Mondays  at Click Road, while keepers on our Lakers & Breakers will train on Tuesdays, 7-7:30. These sessions run now through June 14th, 2016.

Private Training (all ages)
With a wide range of qualified coaches on staff, PYSA is occasionally able to offer interested players private training sessions throughout the year. This offering is contingent on the availability of coaches to accomodate your specific needs. If you would like to find out more about private training opportunities, please contact Club Director Kyle Lieberman at 231-348-2947x1 for details and pricing.

3v3 Indoor Tournament (3rd-8th Grade)
Each March, PYSA partners with North Central Michigan College to host an indoor 3v3 tournament at their Rec Center. This event has been very popular among our members over the years. The tournament is open to 3rd-8th grade players of both genders, and is free to all currently registered PYSA members (a small fee is charged to outside players wishing to participate). Details for the 2017 tournament will be released in December, 2016.

Winter Training (u8-19)
All PYSA players are afforded a once-weekly training opportunity in the winter, January-April. These sessions are not mandatory (we know players may have winter conflicts), but are a great and unique opportunity to continue developing skills for the game. One of the truly unique benefits of PYSA membership is the ability to access the game year-round in a quality training environment. These indoor sessions are hosted at the North Central Michigan College Rec Center, and scheduling details for 2017 will be released in December, 2016.

Shooting Stars & Future Stars (Kindergarten - 2nd Grade)
Each winter, PYSA offers a series of Saturday morning sessions catered to our future players! Boys and girls between Kindergarten-2nd grade are invited to participate in a fun-filled environment designed to keep kids active! Tag games and races are incorporated with very basic soccer skills to help introduce players to the game.  Pricing and schedule details for 2017 to be released in December, 2016
