COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

(March 13 Update) PYSA COVID-19 Statement

March 13
In light of the Governor Whitmer's call to close all Michigan K-12 schools starting Monday, 3/16, ALL PYSA activities are suspended upon further notice, starting today Friday, 3/13. This includes Coach D License clinic, PYSA Board Meeting, NMSA scheduling, and all practices.

• We will keep you updated as we get more guidance from the MSYSA and US Youth Soccer about resuming activities.
• Ashley has compiled a youtube page, with some videos of things kids can do at home on their own (or with a sibling/friend).

The PYSA Board has been monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and has been in correspondence with both the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association and US Youth Soccer. At this time we have decided to mirror the policies of the Public Schools of Petoskey regarding the COVID-19 virus. Extra-curricular activities (for groups of less than 100) and athletics practices are still being held. If the Public Schools of Petoskey were to temporarily close, and/or prohibit extra-curricular activities and athletics from taking place, the PYSA would immediately put a moratorium on all team activities.

As of right now, the majority of teams are continuing to hold our scheduled winter training. As always, your players participation is optional for winter training. You will hear directly from your coach or manager if practice is canceled. PLEASE USE THE AVAILIBILITY OPTION ON TEAM SNAP TO HELP OUR COACHES, MANAGERS, AND ADMINISTRATION MONITOR ATTENDANCE. The Petoskey Field House is being fluid with closing and stated today they will follow the Petoskey Public Schools policies as well.

Northern Michigan Soccer Alliance weekend friendlies scheduling has been postponed until Monday, April 13. We are closely monitoring the guidance and protocols from the MSYSA and US Youth Soccer. On an admin call last night with MSYSA, they assured us they were being very proactive. Plan on playing games in late April and May on either Saturday's (girls) or Sunday's (boys), until further notice. They only unknown until April 13 scheduling will be the location of each of those dates.

Please use common sense, patience, and self-care.  I will continue to upload pertinent information here.

Please share this information with family, friends, co-workers, etc. Additional resources, communications, and updates regarding the Coronavirus can be found at:
