You will have until 5 pm on Friday, November 8, 2019 to accept your roster spot and complete payment. Failure to accept and complete the registration process may result in your roster spot being offered to someone else.

DOC, Ashley Antonishen will be hosting an informational meeting about the 2019 Lakers season at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Click Road Soccer Complex. This will be an informational Q&A and is a great opportunity for new prospective participants to learn more about the Lakers and PYSA. Returning parents/players are also encouraged to attend and receive the most current information regarding our program. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you.

Note: Current High School Seniors

Please note, we are inviting the current high school senior 2001 and 2002 players to tryout.

Be aware of our P&P section C7: PYSA is not obligated to accommodate boys who have graduated, or are graduating during the season, and are done with high school soccer. U18/U19 boys without a team will be given the opportunity to train with younger team if they have registered and paid the fees. *Depending on the numbers, there may be opportunity to form a tournament team.

MSPSP rules Page 11 Rule 22, state U19 has to be attending high school full time. *Although, if a tournament team is formed, there may opportunities to play on the team.

Our Lakers teams participate in the Michigan State Premier Soccer Program (MSPSP) each spring. League play typically consists of a 10-team division, meaning 4-5 away games and 4-5 home games. Schedules are not finalized until late February, so exact travel commitments will not be known until that time. Most of our fellow MSPSP participants are located in the SE part of the state (Metro Detroit), however, we have seen teams from Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Bay City/Midland area in recent years.

While it is not possible to fully forecast travel, it is reasonable to expect at least two weekends of travel. We will do our best to play multiple games in a single weekend, but this relies on our opponents being able to host us in that manner.

Beyond MSPSP, Lakers also participate in the Petoskey Summer Invitational. Each team is also free to participate in an additional tournament if they choose. The Midland tournament (typically Mother's Day weekend) has been a popular one for our teams to attend in recent years.

Starting in January, Lakers will practice one night per week in a 60-90 minute session. Exact nights & times will be determined over the next week and shared by email by end of the month.

Once we get to spring and can move training outside, practices are typically three times per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Exact times will be determined as we get closer to spring and have received feedback on commute times, driving arrangements, etc from the involved players/parents.

It is important that all players trying out for the Lakers team(s) understand that this is a premier soccer program, with and roster decisions, playing time, and coaching decisions will be merit-based. Equal playing time is not assured. While PYSA does understand there are meaningful costs and travel required for Lakers participation, this still does not guarantee a specific number of minutes for a player during games. The one thing each participant can count on is the opportunity to be fairly evaluated in a competitive environment throughout season. His experience on the field will correspond with his performance and effort.
