PYSA u10 Player Development Coordinator


Overview:

The PYSA’s U10 Player Development Coordinator is responsible for creating a positive, exciting, and impactful experience for the PYSA’s u9-u10 players while also mentoring the parent volunteer coaches at these age groups. This role includes the recruitment and retention of players and coaches, the planning and execution of all training sessions, and coaching at all home games for these ages. The PYSA’s U10 Player Development Coordinator is also responsible for the implementation of the PYSA Fall Rec program.


Responsibilities by Season


Fall

  • Attend the PYSA new parent orientation in early August and discuss the philosophy and goals of the program along with the player and parent expectations. 

  • Recruit at least one parent to coach for each gender/age group.

  • Encourage parents to help recruit other players/families to fill open roster spots. 

  • Attend the NMSA scheduling meeting in early August and schedule all weekend NMSA friendly games.

  • Conduct  two weekly progressive and dynamic 75-minute training sessions for all boys and girls u9-u10 beginning the week of the second Monday of August and running through the Autumn Blast in September. The boys and girls sessions can be held back-to-back on the same two evenings. 

  • Conduct one weekly developmentally tiered and appropriate 60-minute session with all PYSA u8-u10 boys and girls and PYSA 3rd and 4th Grade Rec players beginning the week after the tournament for 5-weeks.  The boys and girls sessions can be held back-to-back on the same evening.

  • Facilitate one evening of 7v7 games for all PYSA u9-u10 and PYSA 3rd and 4th Grade Rec players beginning the week after the tournament for 5-weeks.  The boys and girls sessions can be held back-to-back on the same evening.

  • Attend and facilitate all home NMSA games and the home tournament. 

  • Mentor all parent volunteer coaches throughout the fall. 


Winter


  • Conduct one weekly progressive and dynamic 60-minute training session for all PYSA boys and girls u9-u10 at NCMC for the eight weeks leading up to spring break. The boys and girls sessions can be held back-to-back on the same evening.

  • Promote and run six 45-minute sessions for both the PYSA’s Shooting Stars (Pre-K and Kindergarten) and Future Stars (1st and 2nd Grade) at NCMC. 


Spring


  • Attend the NMSA scheduling meeting with the parent coaches and team managers in early March and help schedule all weekend NMSA friendly games.

  • Conduct  two weekly progressive and dynamic 75-minute training sessions for all boys and girls u9-u10 beginning the second or third Monday of April and running through the Petoskey Fresh Coast Classic in early June. The boys and girls sessions can be held back-to-back on the same two evenings.

  • Attend and coach at all home NMSA games and the home tournament. 

  • Mentor all parent volunteer coaches throughout the spring and assist with the transition of the u10 age group to u11 for the upcoming fall. 

  • Schedule and organize an exit parent meeting for u10’s with the PYSA ED and DOC.

  • Host an event to recruit outgoing 2nd grade City of Petoskey Parks and Rec players into the PYSA programs for the fall. 


General Responsibilities:


  • Manage an @petoskeysoccer.com email and respond to inquiries in a timely manner. 

  • Work the PYSA’s Executive Director and DOC team managers to effectively communicate with all families involved in the developmental and rec programs. 

  • Work with the PYSA’s Executive Director and DOC team managers to ensure all PYSA and MSYSA policies are being followed regarding player and coach registration (risk management and SafeSport, and Head’s Up). 

  • Attend the monthly PYSA Board Meeting. 

  • Attend all clubwide events

  • Promote the PYSA and the u9 and u10 Developmental Teams at community events like Central Elementary’s Family Fun Night. 

  • Possible Summer Training Opportunities to earn extra compensation.  


Requirements:


  • Current MSYSA Risk Management, SafeSport Certification, and Head’s Up Concussion Certification. 

  • Previous playing and coaching experience. 

  • Ability to demonstrate proper technique consistently.

  • Current U.S. Soccer 4v4, 7v7, and 9v9 Grassroots Licenses (or in the process of working toward those certifications)

  • United Soccer Coaches National Youth Diploma. Desired within a year, but not required. The PYSA will cover all costs of obtaining this certification. 

  • Good organization and communication skills. 

  • Learn and utilize Team Snap for all messaging to the families. 

  • Abide by the PYSA’s philosophy regarding player development at these ages and promote the PYSA’s mission and values.

Thursday - u9/10 Dev. Girl’s Training 5:30-6:45 and u9/10 Dev. Boy’s Training 6:45-8:00

Tuesday - u9/10 Girl’s Dev. and Rec Practice 5:15-6:15 and u9/10 Boy’s Dev. and Rec Practice 6:15-7:15

Thursday - u9/10 Girl’s Dev. and Rec Games 5:15-6:15 and u9/10 Boy’s Dev. and Rec Games 6:15-7:15

Saturday Morning - Possible u9/10 Girl’s Dev. NMSA @ Click

Sunday Afternoon - Possible u9/10 Boy’s Dev. NMSA @ Click



Compensation:


  • TBD - $8,000-$10,000. Commensurate with experience.
